However the gal gave a good sales pitch about one of a kind and the Ding Dynasty era on and on. Anyway I fell hook line and sinker. Really I never have seen another one like it? Do any of you button gals have one ? Tell me what you think. Not about how crazy you think I am , just what era you think the button is and have you seen another one similar to this one?
The back of this famous button, I think only a real button floozies will appreciate this
Surely some of the button floozies will like it
I think she's a beauty
She is pretty , do you think she was on some formal gown or coat of some kind, since it's a heavy metal button ? Also what can I do with it except show it here? maybe put it in my etsy shop?

Hi: Great button, have no clue as to it's age. If you lived a little closer I would be happy to share my tea cups with you. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteI don't know much about buttons. I say if you love it get it. It seems I love to treat everyone but, myself...I guess that is how Mom's are. Every once in a while though...I buy myself a gift! You deserve it!
ReplyDeleteCarol
I do not know what era it is from but I can totally relate to getting caught up in the button love and I do know bigger is frequently better when it comes to buttons.
ReplyDeleteI don't know anything about buttons but I think it is beautiful. BTW, Paducah is only an hour from my daughter's home. I have always wanted to go to the Quilt show. Let's meet there next year.

I was going to go this year, however my friend that lives in Paducah is coming up to visit her sister also a friend of mine, who lives close to me
DeleteSure I will try and plan a trip to be there next year, I love the vendors, they use to be fabulous , buy any vintage or new notion you ever dreamed of and the Hancocks material store is over the top. One year there was 2 ladies who bought $1000 worth of material !! while i was there
I always go to Starnes bar-b-que
My mother collected buttons all my life, and I have quite a few. I will see what I can find out in my reference book:

This book is gorgeous, and provides beauty and history.
If you love something, what is $50.00? I paid that for a retired stamp set and my friends thought I was crazy. It is so darned cute! I did feel a little bit like a bonehead afterward, but it will hold it's value or increase, just like good antiques and authentic antique buttons. I'll try to get back with you.
My mother goes there all the time...love your blog!!! thanks for the visit, I will follow. Have a great weekend. Gina
ReplyDeleteThis appears to be an "Antique Geisha brass button" google this & you will see various other buttons very similar to yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks , I seen some similar just not as big as mine , interesting
Deletenot as expensive as mine either LOL
It for sure is really pretty. What are you going to do with it? I have some beautiful old buttons from my grandma and haven't come up with anything clever to do with them... Little Bit
ReplyDeleteMy SIL attached my MIL's buttons to the framed picture of my MIL after she passed. It is a great rememberance of her.
DeleteWear it as a brooch maybe. It is big.
ReplyDeleteThe button is beautiful, and certainly shows some signs of having been used (call it a "patina" to sound la-dee-da)so it certainly has age. I also think it looks Japanese. Lovely!
ReplyDeleteI am sure you will treasure your $50 button much more than you would 50 $1 buttons, it is a beauty! Happy Pink Saturday! ~Lorraine ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteNo matter what you wear it on, it will look nice. I have never seen anything like it. Great buy.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a beauty, I've never seen anything like it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a real keeper!
Hugs,
Patti
It is very beautiful! I'm sure the button dealer didn't steer you wrong -- they generally will ask a fair price based on the button's rarity, etc. If you want to know more about it, you could get back in touch with the dealer and ask her to tell you again! :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful button...could be the start to an amazing collection!
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Pink Saturday..xo Tami
Beautiful button! I had a friend tell me once "If you really love something then the price is worth it whether is $2 or $200." Good advice. I think you and your button will be very happy together!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely weekend,
Robin

So much detail into a button! Do they even make buttons with such detail anymore? If you love it, that's all that counts price wise!

I've never seen anything like it! I passed up some military buttons at the thrift shop for a few bucks. Who knows yours might be even worth more? No, I won't spend that much on buttons let alone one. Hey, it doesn't matter what I think if you enjoy it it's money well spent!! Have a wonderful weekend. Put that button in a safe place my friend. It's a beauty :)
