A Cake Plate and Found Treasures

I was looking quickly around the house (on my lunch break)to see what I could put in my next post and wanted to show glass cake plates that was my Mom's but where are they? Which cabinet did I put them in ?

I found one in the cabinet in my living room and thought where did I put the rest when I was moving things over to put out Christmas decorations. Oh well I will find them someday when I am not looking for them. I looked in the guest bedroom on the dresser and I was sure I would have set them there but not there.
I will show the one I found and a few pretties that was in the drawers I was digging through .

This cake cover I just love with the sweet silhouettes . I bought it on my trip down south last October I think I found it was in Georgia at an antique mall. It has a glass plate bottom.

   This one I bought also on the trip then got it home and thought it was a little banged up looking but it looks good setting upon my shabby chippy cabinet. I like the little red button closure.                                                                      
                                                             

        

I have been wanting to make a strawberry cake and will have to use this plate for sure.

   

 This little heart shaped hinged Limoges box I bought in Portland Oregon down on Pioneer square in a shop.  It was on sale like 1/2 of 1/2 had to have it.

I had to put a few of my lovely beautiful fancy charming Tiara's on this post also. I just love them.

These sweet little swan lipstick holders was a gift  to me a couple years ago. They came from an estate sale in Portland Oregon

I wanted to show this little painting I got at a flea market a couple years ago It was down on the book case bottom shelf with lots of my beautiful books also the painting goes vertical instead of horizontal.

Out Beating The Bushes Again

Where did this saying come from ? However it fits all of us treasures hunters. I am going to a new vintage shop close to Jefferson City today. A friend said I need to check it out so I'm on my way for another hunt.
I am looking like a lot of other people evidently because those vintage Pyrex bowls in pink are a lot of peoples treasures. I mean they are all bought up. I have a friend who wants a set so I am helping her look. I found a turquoise set but a bit pricey I  thought  $60.00 and $75.00 ? I think pricy for a set of four. But then again thinking out loud if they are well sought after.

There is always something new to hunt for and I guess I am a personal shopper for some of my friends because they are always telling me if you see such and such get it for me . I am always shopping vintage for my two sisters and a couple friends but I love it . I am the one always on the go and they well us say don't beat the bushes like me LOL.

I am looking for the middle bowl to this set.There is four in all.Really it's the one next to the large one I am looking for .

I found this pink plastic  silverware tray and thought it was so cool. I can use it for pencils or scissors on my work table.

Or I can give it to someone who loves pink things

OK the new little shop I mentioned is soooooooooooo cute. It's name is Maple Hill Vintage Market
address is 106 E Broadway  Ashland Mo .    One of the owners named Mary was there and she is so charming sweet and in the know. Her shop to me had a lot of things I had seen on other blogs that had shopped in Marburger and Round Top Texas flea markets. All the shabby chic cabinets, All and number like 123and the letters like ABC etc you know what I mean, and tin and wood crates and Oh  my. She said she had sheds and building full so she inventory is always changing it will be worth the drive for anyone. Her hours are Thurs & Fridays 9-6
Saturdays 9-3.
She is going to start a blog so I will let yo know when she gets it up

   This Texas Ware divided bowl was a in perfect condition so of course had to have it to go with all the other pink finds. Wait till you see this ice machine!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                                       Ice-O-Mat

               When I was a child I went with my grandparents to an Aunt's house for special visits and she had one of these ice-o-mat's anyway the only person in our family who had a ice crusher!! I always had to have crushed ice in my drink when we went to Aunt Georgie's & Uncle Charlie's house.  Hers was red and white if I can remember .

Mother Of Pearl !!!!!!!!!!!

OM GOSH I bought the new issue of Victoria magazine January/ February featuring Mother of Pearl Treasures From the Sea page  really caught my attention. I have always purchased mother of pearl silverware when I could find it priced reasonable so wanted to show a few of my pieces also

I have jars of mother of pearl buttons. I didn't get my large buttons in the pictures my sister wanted to make a necklace with the large ones.We seen a fabulous picture of a necklace once in another magazine and of course we never have gotten to that project.

Shopping for silver metallic jeans

Well while I was out shopping for a pair of silver metallic jeans I found the local antique mall having a sale.

I am on the look for a wooden bed for a friend who wants to paint it white. She has a bedroom she calls the Violet Room and it is of course decorated with violet pictures cup and saucers with violets odd dishes and pictures with violets. It is just lovely. She has an old vintage iron bed in there now and she painted green  ivy vines all around it and it looks so pretty with the contrasting violet color however after several years she wants a change. So I was at one of the local antique malls and found this bed and sent her the pictures however her and her husband just can't stand to paint a good piece of wood so they thought it was too pretty to paint.
Myself i think it would just be fabulous painted white.

Now don't all of you white lovers think this would just be gorgeous painted white? Maybe I should just buy it paint it and take it to her. The only thing is she wants to paint something herself for this room.                                                                            

While I was looking around I seen this cute small chest painted RED and I thought where could I put this in my house? My house is full and need to de-clutter some things not bring more in. I would change the pulls and maybe it could go in my home office and I could take a wing back chair and ottoman out to make room for it just thinking  out loud.

I found some small things on sale while I was there. In the new issue of Victorian magazine they have a article about mother of pearl buttons and serving pieces. I found a spoon with mother of pearl and the handle is twisted wire  just like in the picture in the magazine.
