Money Compact

Are any of you gals old enough to remember these?

                                                                     

I was looking through a little cabinet I have setting on my kitchen bar and had forget this was in it.


It has its section for half dollars, quarters , dimes, nickels. I can remember as a child if I had change to put in this I was so happy and felt so girly girly to carry it in my little purse.

This is in my little treasure cabinet aslo, Rhinestone stuff which I have loved all my life

      LOl yes when you just a youngster you don't know about all the pretties we had as children from the 1950's

    I DO remember the money compacts. I don't think I ever owned them but remember seeing them. Remember when... you had to put in a nickel to use a public restroom??

      I know your not old enough to know about these sweet treasures.I was always thrilled if I had a quarter, nickel, dime and a half dollar to put in this

      Yes Grandma's had these back in the 1950's and early 1960's

    I still have my money compact from the 50's or was it 60's. I think it looks just like yours. It was fun to be able to fill it with something. Love your clear rhinestone jewelry too.

      Oh yes I can remember how high fashion these were and I was a country girl LOL

    Have never heard of these before. I have heard women say they used to use sixpences to hold their stockings up and that way they always had two shillings for emergencies.

      I don't think I would now how to put sixpences in my stocking, I always wore a garter belt . I think that was early 1900's LOL

      I also had a little rubber change purse which I carried most of the time if I needed to take change with me
      Isn't it nice we can remember our little treasures when we were little kids

    We love so many of the same things! I don't remember seeing the cute compact but my Dad carried his 'folded money' in a money clip. And I LOVE old jewelry and have a bit of a collection, too. Wish we lived close to each other....we would have such fun! Sweet hugs, Diane
