Reminiscing with Rhinestones

I am trying my best to figure out why the heck I have bought and hoarded beautiful items since I was about 21?  Some things wasn't so beautiful, I use to love primitive kitchen items.
I am thinking as the physiologist   say,  we buy things that remind us of our child hood? Why do you think we run all over looking for treasures? In my childhood days we didn't have all this stuff in our home?
I always bought things to fill a void I know that now. Heavy statement admitting this right?

Anyway here is a few items that reminds me of a girlfriend of my Mom's. Edeen  was very small I would say today's standards a size zero, not that this matters a bit to my story LOL
Anyway she dressed fancy and frilly and flowy. This is how the child in me is describing her. Her dresses were always like an old movie stars blowing in the wind. I wish I could find this one picture of her, it's here someplace in a box of my Mom's pictures of days gone by. She was about 4 ft 11" and always had high heels on . I can only remember her really dressed up.

Anyway to make a short story long, she always had the most beautiful evening bags. They called them Carry All's. you could get your lipstick, powder, money, and of course cigarettes in them, Oh and they all have a mirror and small comb.
This is one that I bought thinking of Edeen

Inside , see the little comb change compartment, lipstick, powder compartment on this side

Back

The Back, where you put your cigarettes, back in the 1950's everyone smoked, you wore it on your wrist , this one has a wire mesh handle

And then there was always the rhinestone jewelry, the bracelets is what I always loved as a child about 5 or 6 years old I remember Edeen dresses had rhinestone buttons, Oh that is another one of my collections
As a child I would have been in heaven to have just one of these bracelets. I loved to play dress up

I love the ones you  stretch over your dainty wrists

I am just going through drawers and cleaning off my dressers and reminiscing

Linky parties to check out because they are great ones

  1. It is fun to go back in time in our memory and think of people that influenced us as a youngin. I have several people that helped me developed my love for pretty things. One lady friend is now living in Texas and we talk all the time. I wish she could/would do the computer so she and I could see more of ours lives now. That is what is so special and amazing, today, this darn computer. You have to love it. Thanks for sharing. Love the little purse./ Your friend, Richard

  3. Good Evening to you, Your bag is fascinating...I did not realise such slim bags existed. A perfect small bag with everything a woman needs when going out for the evening....I love it.
I agree with Richard, my collection of this and that brings back memories of loved ones, but I also love the idea of holding a book which someone 100 or so years ago received as a gift and held in their hands.
    Best Wishes

  4. Thank you for sharing your trip down memory lane. I often wonder, too, about why I am attracted to particular things and colors. And why I can like multiple styles that are very unrelated and yet I like them equally well. The mystery that is our minds!

  5. I regret I did not keep more of the family treasures, but when you are young that never crosses your mind. Time does make a differnce.

  7. I just popped over to see if I could suggest something for your kitty's hunger pangs. First off, if your cat is hungry all the time, I suggest you have her checked at the vet to see if her thyroid is out of whack. Often, a cat with an under-active or over-active thyroid has food issues. The dry food is the culprit for putting the weight on cats so if you give her a good soft food twice a day and only a small amount of dry she will probably lose a bit of weight. You do have to have the constant eating issue checked, though. Deb

  8. When I was a little girl, a friend and I always got dressed up in her mother's things. Her mother had lots of pretty dresses and lots of bling. How I adored those bracelets! I still love them today although I don't own one. I would like to have just one. My hubby doesn't care for jewelery but surely he wouldn't object to just one rhinestone bracelet! I will eventually get one!
Thanks for your visit and thanks for the memories.

    Blessings,
    Sandi
