Hot Tea

I woke up wanting a cup of hot tea really wanted one last night after watching that new show Who Do You Think You Are.  it is  about finding you family from years ago .The show uses old church birth records and the modern day Genealogy .com to trace back your family. The blond girl  Kim Cantrell I think is her name from Sex In The City was on last night and she is nothing like she portrays in the movies. She said on Joy Bahar show she is an actress and did her job well. I love that show of Who Do You Think Your Are.
I am not a Rosie O'Donnell fan  but her story was soooooo sad I cried and cried. BOO Hoo I always cry when they go all the way back and find out what happened to their family. Kim's family was from Liverpool England however they live in Canada now her Mother and two Aunts.

Well here's to you Britain's and the love of hot tea.

I am going to show some of my pretty tea cups anyway I think they are pretty. Love this red and white cup the little sugar I found at TJ Maxx and the tea pot at an estate sale i thought it went with my Mason cups not in the picture.

Then of course my all time favorite my Staffordshire blue calico tea pot and cup

I like this set of brown calico cups. A friend found them listed on Craig's list a set of 8 cups $15. so I had to rescue them. Then I found the saucers at different estate sales. The brown and white tea pot is from TJ Maxx

This set is I only have cups and saucers and luncheon plates they didn't have a tea pot to match I always just use my calico tea pot with the yellow chintz cups

I have one green depression cup and this green sugar shaker minus any sugar LOL. I love this big sugar bowl with the green transfer ware pattern I bought it at an high end antique store and she had it marker 1880 and the mark  Gazelle on the bottom. I can imagine some southern belle serving her fine sugar from it at a tea luncheon out on the lawn under a huge tree. Love it

My sweet little Iris and herringbone cup and saucer

My sweet cabbage rose Sharon cup I borrowed a saucer from the yellow chintz . I don't mind using odds and ends together make it interesting.

Now i have 4 of these little rose pattern cups and saucers that I bought at our resale shop here in town. I never noticed it till someone said it's getting  harder to find pretty tea cups any more so I thought I better grab these up before the are existent (did I spell that correct)sometimes my spell check is sick
Love these odds and ends. I have my loose tea in this candy dish
I love the inside of this flo blue cup and just had to show it off
Another set I have had for years I bought this in St Louis and it was an reproduction of an old set. I just love it and have used it all over my house for something. The large tea pot and the decanter for loose  tea

It's time to make a cup of hot tea I use Whittard Of Chelsea tea My friend in Portland ordered it for me from England. We use to get it at a tea shop in Seattle down on the City Market area. The shop doesn't carry it any longer she said to expensive. So I am loving every sip of this hot tea today, setting here looking out my home office window at the snow on my beautiful tree I hang my curtains in. The little birds are all eating up the sunflower seeds I threw out for them the snow and ice is still on everything. Tomorrow it is to really warm up very fast to 60 !!!!
OK I am pouring us a cup of Summer Pudding tea

White Iron Chippy Plant Stand

I bought two of these old iron chippy white plant stands at our only resale shop a couple years ago and have used them for stacking dishes in my kitchen I put them up on my yellow chippy old dresser and stacked plates and other dishes  I like on them. You know how it is move things around a lot
Now I do have them in the studio in the south window with my basil & rosemary plants on them. I plan on putting my jars of buttons on them next. Also I have seen the reproductions of these at different decor shops. They are must lighter in weight as my old ones.

I set them up on my old wooden ironing board to get pictures of the legs which I love

Soon as I seen these I knew  wanted them they were already distressed looking chippy and all

I had moved my old cotton lace and was looking for it so threw some of it in the picture as I found it. Have you noticed I am always looking for something in the studio? That is not just because age it is just having to many treasures. I do have a lot of my containers labeled also.

Sally was watching so I threw her picture in on this post. I need to redress her somehow she has wore this outfit for some time now LOL

                                                                   Love It !!
I have never been a fan of gold or yellow color however this old cotton lace trim was in a box I bought at an auction and since it was old I had to keep it

As I downsize my studio treasures I am sure I will keep all my vintage lace and anything sewing related.
This piece is a square collar and I had the idea of using it to cover a book painted white use this for the outside cover then embellish it of course

Turquoise Cabinet plus Pink

I was downstairs in the studio looking for something as I always do I have so much I can't find what I am looking for  quickly. That is why I am going to downsize the treasures. It will be hard because like I said they are all treasures. I wish I had more friends who liked altered art I could have a play day and supply all the treasure to create something.

This is my turquoise chippy cabinet I have. It had glass in the door and it kept falling out so it's out for good. It has a mirror in the back which I like.

In the bottom is a stack of old small brown paper sacks with an old store  advertisement on them.I bought them from a printing company closing and they had printed them for this old hardware store I always thought I would make cards out of them.
I just stuck that little metal car on the shelf for contrast of color and it was in a box of stuff really didn't know I had it.

While I was looking for whatever it was I was looking for I came across these little guys that was in a box of stuff from an auction you know how it is you want one thing in a box and you take home some really weird stuff.       (Yard sale stuff )

I went in the bedroom I made a closet and seen these clothes bags that I love made out of broadcloth from the 50's I am sure.  I have a green print and a pink print

Looking around a few boxes of rusty things and lace in a chair also an old picture I broke the glass in I am taking it to get new glass  I bought it at an high end estate sale and it's a women's suffrage picture for women's voting rights. here she sets behind the hot water heater in my utility room

This is the sewing machine I bought at an auction for just sewing my paper cards $9.00 it was , had it's booklet attached
A toy gun and a little black  bag I am working on to make into a necklace

Remember I mentioned I was going to paint a pair of vintage high heels? this is the before picture while they was a beige color which all the fashion people are telling us this is the color to wear with any dress this spring

Here is the can of paint I am using If you remember I painted a door pink that  I have all my ribbons hanging on
OK now here is the after

I made new liners and added some shoe clips . I traced the liners out of  an old calendar

They really turned out good now they can go sit besides the pink formal in the Iron bed bedroom. Now I need to get that black  bag painted and I am going to carry it.

A friend of mine is moving and downsizing like everybody i know anyway she has a 16 place setting of Desert Rose by Franciscan plus extra serving pieces , glasses, butter, cups & saucers, the tall salt pepper, veg bowl, platter ,pitcher
Her mother in law got them for  wedding china in 197o's?
they are in excellent condition so if interested just email me. Look at ebay what they are selling for she just wants $350.00 for her complete set.

I found a new pyrex divided dish My sister and I was shopping in an antique shop and I found this is in the basement the only piece of pyrex in the store. I think I will use it for a divided dinner plate for me (big plate huh?)
