Oh How I love old costume jewelry from years ago. Maybe 1920-1970's maybe just all costume jewelry.
I got this pin once from an auction and love the coral face cameo. It is a large pin and I did wear it couple times on jackets then back when altered art jewelry got popular I added it to my favorite rhinestone necklace I purchased once in Portland Oregon at the Expo antique show, which had to be in early 1990's? I didn't damage the pin any, I was careful not to damage the rhinestone necklace or the cameo. It can easily be taken apart.
I was looking though a glass door cabinet I have lots small treasure stored in and this was laying so beautifully on top of an old antique glass travel jar with a sterling lid.
The little rose buds are 14k the bow sterling !
Guess I could have cleaned it before taking these pictures , I love it
We still have snow and ice and I like everyone else is waiting patiently on warm spring weather. We have no choice but to wait patiently. In the mean time I am inside playing with old jewelry and rearranging one of my dish cabinets with lots odds and end of dishes covered in roses.
Have you noticed instead of business saying have a nice day, they are saying have a wonderful day? I have noticed it a few places , just a thought.

I loved getting to see your jewelry! I have a lot of old pieces including the broach I wore in April of 1963 when I got married. It came with the dress which was an inexpensive discount store one. But the broach was pretty then and it’s still pretty. I have it nestled on a pair of white satin gloves in my bathroom.
ReplyDeleteNo, I haven’t heard any shopkeeper say that in Texas.....
I haven't heard anything except "have a nice day"
ReplyDeleteLOL- Nope--haven't heard-have a wonder day. I suppose that is shorthand for wonderful....kind of like texting in "talk"....lol
ReplyDeleteI love old jewelry, too. Hope you have a great day- xo Diana
I never saw a cameo that color . Wonderful creation. I never heard the expression before. A bit odd
ReplyDeleteCindy

ReplyDeleteI like the the Christmas pins! We sell costume jewelry in our store. Janice
ReplyDeleteI love cameos. Yours is beautiful. I wonder if cameo carvers are even allowed to use that type of coral-colored coral for their jewelry making due to so much of the coral species becoming endangered. Aren't you glad you kept it!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful piece! One of my favorite things is to peruse the thrift store showcases for old jewelry. So much character! Happy day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful piece . . . I am always drawn to vintage costume jewelry! It's one of the first things I look at when I go to an estate sale or flea market. This is so unique! Wonder day? What the heck does that mean?? LOL - I'll stick with have a nice day haha!
ReplyDeleteThis is a gorgeous piece! and I (as someone else mentioned) have never seen this color cameo before. It's pretty, and unusual I think~ [I have not heard that phrase in MT before (wonder day); perhaps it's a local thing?] Have a nice week-end Janice! I'm off to see the button blog! : ) karen o
ReplyDeleteHi, I'm just getting around to reading this post. I'm not sure that your coral cameo is considered costume jewelry! I collect cameos and have never seen a coral one go for under $100. It looks like the setting could be tarnished silver. Anyway it is a lovely cameo and I hope you will enjoy wearing it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog! that is a beautiful cameo. I have some old jewellery in similar style passed down from my great grandmother, my favourite is a kind of a pearl corsage to go around the neck and over the bust which was quite popular in about 1915 era.
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous piece! Love the vintage charm for sure!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday, dear Janice. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pieces. I love vintage jewelry, too.
ReplyDeleteThis post is being featured on my Pink Saturday post this week as "the one that caught my eye".♥
