Found Goodies

I have had the bug for thrift stores lately seems I have to go everyday or every other day anyway. I have found some really nice dishes that I like. Now the thrift stores here can't compare to larger cities but once in a while I find goodies. I liked this creamer with the pheasant on it and have a couple plates hanging and setting in my office with quails on them.

I think it will look good on my table with my brown and white transfeware dishes for Thanksgiving. I found a couple others also in white ironstone. The 2 plain little pitchers

Then I seen this heart shaped colander and wonder what it'd purpose was for

I looked it up and it's for making cheese and you use a cheese cloth inside. It's a Williams Sonoma dish made in France and Ina on Barefoot Contessa once used it on her show if you watch the cooking shows. I don't anymore since they took Paula Deen off I still believe she took a terrible wrap for her brothers wrong doing.Go on the internet and type apilco and this dish will come up and what it's used for. I thought that was interesting. I will use mine for decoration only, not making cheese LOL

I like anything from Williams Sonoma stores. I have a silver Ruffoni pan that I love and use often

I am really enjoying our warmer than usual weather here in central Missouri also . It's been in 80's and since our rain last night it's going to be in 70's I think next couple weeks anyway.

Linky parties I am joining in

  1. WOW- you found some excellent treasures, indeed!

I always thought those dishes were for rinsing fruit, haha.

I made cheese once in a class I took at a Rennaissance festival years ago - was easy and super fun, and I don't remember a thing I learned that day. (Senior moments I guess, haha.)

  8. These are wonderful treasures! Love the pheasant creamer - perfect for fall! I have recipes for making cheese from yogurt - you just let it drain for a few days and add herbs. That little dish would be perfect for making it! Thank you for stopping by :) xx Karen

  11. I'm with you on the Paula Deen issue. Don't watch any of the current cooking shows, but if I had time only Ina would be my pick. I did hear that Paula has her own internet shows. I will be going around to the thrift stores more often now that I've seen what you managed to find. I guess it really is necessary to hunt, hunt, hunt. Love those dishes.

  12. Well how interesting is the little cheese dish you found! I make my own kefir, and have sometimes made my own cheese. I simply use a regular strainer, but this delightful heart shaped dish is really a beauty. Thrift store shopping is always fun, you never know what you will come home with! Have a lovely weekend :)

  13. Your plate brought back memories of my Dad and brother going pheasant and quail hunting around Thanksgiving. Not long ago I actually saw a pheasant in a field, something I had not seen in years.

  14. Great things that you found. I have never saw that heart shape cheese maker... I would have never guest. I haven't watches any cooking shows either. I loved Paula Deen.. I think it was some craziness.. People are silly.. There have been way worse things done and they all get over looked. I'm in San Francisco and seems I have't been able to find much of anything worth the bother her.. I'm thinking smaller towns are better.. He he... Maybe things are just going dry... Lol have a blessed Sunday evening with love Janice

  18. What a find! I like small pitchers and am always on the lookout, but have never seen one with a pheasant. I need to take you with me when I shop! I used to have a set of the Coronation pattern (your mom's pattern), given to me by my grandfather-in-law many years ago after his wife died.
