Lemon Cake

Yesterday I just had to clean floors and dust and in the meantime I wanted to bake a lemon cake which is one of my favorite. So as I whipped up the cake and got it in the oven I kept cleaning. I would rather do yard work than housework any day. It's always great when the dust and dirt  is gone, however.

This is a teapot my Mother told me she had before I was born. It's a Hall teapot. I got the pretty cups and saucers and snack plates at a Marshall's years ago.

I had never thought to put this set together Mom's old tea pot and my calico set, here's another thing do you like cold cake or room temperature cake? I always like a cold cake so put my lemon cake in the refrigerator.

I use to collect these vintage tea spoons for loose tea and still use them. I still look for them when I got to large antique malls. I have a couple more

Oh by the way it tasted so good with my cup hot tea LOL wish you were here to have a piece

Linky parties I joined in for fun of it

Cabinets and Pulls

While I set here and watch our last snow flurries I was thinking of a new post about what I wanted to plant this spring besides my usual annual plants. I'm thinking just more hydrangeas.

I think I better go out and cover up my clematis  because it has many new sprouts and I don't want it to freeze, be right back.

Ok I'm back inside and that wind is cold, how about where you are? I like old chippy cabinets and like pretty pulls on cabinets so thought I'll show a few abound my house. This is a cabinet in my cooking area with some of my red transferware dishes.I like the old keys I having hanging

I also have this old kitchen cabinet full of my blue calico staffordshire  English dishes. I'm going to get a couple old keys to hang here also.

I also really like painted furniture in its original state ,this little chest from 1960's. It is black and gold which I really like in furniture . This little chest is as you walk in my front door sitting under a hge gold framed wood mirror

This lowboy chest is really not a grey color it's more blue however on this cloudy day my phone camera makes it look grey, it's in my office area piled full of blue white dishes and books.

I have a peach cobbler in the oven so better go check on it, yes I made my own crust and used my Grandmothers old wood rolling pin that she had my entire life growing up so gotta go

Thanks for stopping, Next weekend I', going to St Louis with couple blogging friends. I think it's a vintage market at Chesterfield

Shopping in The Bottoms

I took a vacation day off work yesterday and my daughter and I went to Kansas City to what they call The Bottoms ,it's old warehouse that the antique shops have mostly moved to and really its great shopping like this. Instead of running all over a large city looking for shops,

I have high seated chair that I really like however my legs dangle off when sitting in it, this chair is for a very tall person, anyway I found a small footstool that I thought would work fine in my living room.

Then I found these little 6 inch in height staffordshire dogs, I knew I always liked these then when I started going back through my Charles Faurdee books I knew why I liked them, just classic dogs for sure. They aren't 1800's however do have British mark on bottom.
They have the same little collars as my other dogs

They look sweet with my large staffordshire dogs

Then I have collected these jars in the blue and white onion pattern since the 1980's, back then they were like $125-175 each which I didn't buy any of course. Now you can find them $25-45 each.
I didn't have the Beans jar and I love it

It was lots things to look at in those warehouses, we happened in a couple wonderful filled ones for sure, lots painted furniture, I never seen so many huge pictures to hang, and spring garden items. I want one of those large balls you hang in a tree

I found these M A Hadley salt and pepper at the first building we went in I think it's name was Red Shed. I have a friend who has every piece ever made in this old country kitchen pattern.
This was a good reasonably priced building

Then there was a very nice couple who had all British items and had a huge pub sign that showed Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on it. I bought a  cup tea strainer that has Ireland insignia and dated 1938 for $1.00 !!!!

It was a fun shopping day we also had lunch in one of the warehouse I think it was the Bottom
Here we are standing in from of the Pub sign

It was a cold windy day of shopping but can't wait to go back. Now I am going to Jefferson City for  a birthday party for my grandson and he wanted a blackberry cobbler instead of a cake so it's in the oven. I think it was 15 degrees here when I got up just FYI LOL

I Play With Buttons

Oh I would like to stay home this rainy day and play with some of my buttons to create another project in the studio. These buttons I always wanted to make a necklace and have never set still long enough to figure out just how to do it. I have an article out of a magazine of one made with mother of pearl buttons and I loved it.

Hope you all had a nice Easter we had snow here and it was so fun to be inside where it was warm and just enjoy it.

Also I need to move a cabinet to where I can display my Pink luster tea set in it in my kitchen. Then I bought blue paint to paint an old pie safe  that I want to rearrange also in the studio.

Gotta Go
