The first one is a little white bird on a nest made by Avon . Mom bought this when they first came out . Maybe 1980 ? Do you remember? what year for sure
Then Mom had this one that one of my sisters gave her for Mother's Day one year with a matching Fenton candy dish . She really liked this one
WE both loved the old Fenton glass. I bought both of us several pieces of Fenton Glass Vases and especially candy dishes. I have Mom's Fenton white hobnail candy dish she got for a wedding present in 1957.
This is a reproduction jadite piece. I bought it for her because she just liked it and I had a lot of the old jadite kitchen bowls etc at the time. I put salt in it and had it on my stove.
So that is the birds all in a row this morning for you all. I didn't dig very far back in the cabinets however there is more of these someplace in this house tucked away.
The sun is out today and I'm glad to be home to enjoy it . As I write this I am watching A cardinal outside of my office window look at himself in a mirror I have in my flower bed. He loves to peck at that mirror, I guess thinking it's a handsome guy?
linky parties to check out

I enjoyed seeing the collection. I have a amber glass one of my Mother's. I guess the days of buying candy dishes is past..we use to go to the dime store and buy one for my Mom when she was going to have "Club" at our house.

Gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat collection. It looks as though we share a love for old china, figurines, milk glass and more. Thanks for visiting my blog a couple of weeks ago. I've not been on here in a while. Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think these chicken/bird nests are enjoying a revival. I've had several people in the shop looking for them (to use as a butter dish) and I picked up a small milk glass one to use for salt. I would like the white Avon bird nest for cotton balls in the bathroom. Love the reproduction jadeite~~~very pretty.
ReplyDeleteI love these! Well maybe it's because I own some like them...Hee, Hee, Hee. However, my little chickens are all milk glass...I love, love, love milk glass. But I remember my mom had an iridescent blue/green one just like yours when we were growing up. They are all very beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHugs and Kisses,
❤️Ana
They remind me of my friend Alva..she was my best friend's mother and then became my friend as I got older...thanks for the sweet memory of her today

Good Afternoon Janice, I adore your little bird baskets they are so lovely and what a fabulous idea to use one for keeping your salt in. I think it is such a wonderful idea to use things which we love rather than tuck them away. As I have a sweet tooth, I think it would be a good idea to hide my sweets in one of the baskets, so that the sweets would not be on display.... I then would not be tempted to eat any.
ReplyDeleteBest Wishes
