Lacey Day

Good Morning this nice day of more freezing rain here in central Missouri. It is suppose to clear up around noon so I am staying in till this afternoon.

Today I ate a piece of baked fish for breakfast, I know that sounds odd to some however I have not been able to eat without hurting since February 5th. My stay in the hospital was diagnosed liver damage due to taking a cholesterol medication simvastatin ,also to much over the counter drugs like aleve, advil, and ibuprofen and tylenol which I was taking for my back pain for bulging disk. So I am off all meds and hoping my liver will heal itself which the doctor & nurses said it will over time. It was so good to chew instead of drinking just broth.

I am playing with my antique lace this morning. I got out a baby christening gown to iron for a lady and decided to show some of my vintage lace which I drool over. I have just pieces I bought out in Oregon once at an antique show. This was saved from an old piece of victorian clothing I am sure from the turn of the century.Maybe Downton Abbey Days

These two was an odd dress cuffs just to pretty to throw away. I loved how back in the day when nothing was thrown away.

sorry this is blurry I put it over a silver napkin and tried again shows it much better now. This is a round piece with a hole in the middle like it was cut off the neck of a childs dress.

The work on this is raised off the lace and is just beautiful. I have used a few old pieces on some of my home made cards which I am sorry I didn't get any pretty Valentines cards made in time for this year.

Stay warm as they say spring is just around the next snow storm

Linky parties I am joining in

  1. Love the lace pieces. I know how you feel about keeping something that is too sweet to throw out. I pray your health issues do get better. Meds are scary , aren't they. Kind of that "damned if you do and if you don't", kind of thing. Blessings to you today, stay safe. xoxo,Susie

  4. I love old bits and pieces of lace, too. I have a bunch stored away and hate to use them-isn't that crazy? i should create SOMETHING with them so they don't just stay stashed behind closed doors.

So glad you can chew and yes, your liver should repair itself in time. Glad you are able to eat something solid again- xo Diana

  7. Glad your health issue is one that can heal over time. I've been researching cholesterol meds since the one my doctor put me on caused my hair to fall out. I always had very thick hair but lost over half of it. What I have found in my research is that most of the cholesterol meds were not really studied to be used for women. They are finding liver damage, an increase risk of diabetes and other issues these drugs are causing in women. I'm off all of them for now and trying to change diet and exercise routine.

  16. Oh, gosh, I hope you feel better very soon! I would imagine that chewing food must have been a great improvement over drinking liquids! Your lace is beautiful, and I absolutely love your blog name! Thanks so much for visiting our Baby cat. And you can definitely buy heated bird baths all year on-line, which is how I got mine. The birds love it - they drink, and sometimes bathe, during the cold winter months. The mourning doves love to gather around it in the late afternoon - it's like a little sauna for them! Do get one - you'll enjoy it and the birds, squirrels, etc. will thank you for the water!!

Your lace is beautiful! I used to have almost every window in my home in lace curtains.

I hope you have a good restful weekend! :)

  23. Oh, I hope you are doing much better and taking care of yourself! Keep getting well! Your laces are so cheery. I want to do something with my bits and pieces. Don't know exactly what. Too pretty to hide away. (I thot my pretty pink crochet would make a nice pocket on something.) Take care!
