Needed to Keep Busy Today

Today I thought I need to create something today so went to the studio and started looking around as what I could put together.
I had an idea so got several items gathered up and thought to myself can this look as good as I want it to. I didn't think so but started my project anyway.

Not sure what I was going to do I just kept piling things on the table

I think this old cup and the little lace doilies are so pretty
This sweet sugar got his one handle broke off but I never threw it away and now I have a project for it

I got a few more things gathered up and started on making pin cushions. I didn't get pictures of one empty cream pitcher

Ta Dah , or how ever you spell that saying  you know what I mean. First pin cushion created by Janice and Sissy she laid right beside me while I worked on and off all day.
This is a Deni cup very small and I just glued the little doilie to the top of the cup, it does have some quilt batting in the cup covered with an old linen,  it drapes over nicely made a little button cutie and put a pearl top hat pin through the buttons

This was my first project and not sure how to get this material in the sugar bowl but I finally just stuffed it down in the bowl with liquid stitch and held it a minute till it seemed attached then added the fringe to it

I didn't get a empty picture of this sugar bowl it's just a plain ivory color

That is what I did today plus go to target and grocery store then the library and in between that the cable man came and fixed my music channel  a squirrel had chewed a connection away from the pole outside.

I needed to stay busy because Sissy(my Pug) is very sick and maybe her little life will only last another 6 weeks she has very advanced cancer. I knew she hadn't been eating as much and then she got to where she just wasn't happy then just looked so sad. She was just in the 4th of March for a check up and the vet treated her with an enlarged thyroid with antibiotics and I took her back yesterday because I knew something was wrong. I just thought she was bored with her food. I never expected a life expectancy of maybe 6 weeks because of the advancement of the cancer. needless to say I cried all night and just can't stand the thought of not having her around. Life is so hard sometimes.
I know people who aren't dog people just can't understand this but they are our family members. So much comfort and fun to have a dog around.
I just read that new book the story of a 4 year old boy who experienced heaven , he died while in the hospital  Heaven Is For Real is the name of the book. Anyway Coltin I think was his name said there was animals in heaven he seen lots of dogs so that is comforting to me. Plus he seen his Grandpa he never knew and a sister his mother miscarried that he never knew about

Lovely Lace Clothing

Here it is Saturday and snowing again!! I am glad I planned to stay home today but now I want to get out in the snow , I will after this post.
I had a pleasant surprise from an old friend who moved away a few years ago. She still lives in Missouri however we don't see each other that often. She was my running partner , we hit every antique mall in Missouri I do believe. I am downsizing my things and she bought several items from me , made us both happy.

I was going through my one pile of old linens and tablecloths and remember a dress I seen in one of my Fashion books, anyway a dress looked just like one of my cotton tablecloths anyway it looked similar to me

These tablecloths are heavy not like a delicate tablecloth. I have a couple delicate tablecloths that I would love to cut up to make a lace tunic and I am going to do that soon as I can stay home long enough to sew. I have to be in the mood and have everything ready ahead of time to sew.

The book FASHION is fabulous it has clothing from early 1800 which I Love textile  and apparel studies
Look at these ladies corset. The first one is dated 1580-1600 French, described iron with scroll motif

The left corset 1760 the right one dates early 18th century, the middle child's mid 18th century

I purchased this book at Barnes and Noble and I think it is so interesting
This table cloth if I cut it up for a top I could really just use the bottom 8 inches because it has a solid middle. Have you ever looked at the clothing Magnolia Pearl sews? It is made out of old tablecloths and crochet pieces.        She would cut this up in a heart beat

This is same tablecloth
While I was looking through things i found my beaded flowers and put them with my button flowers

For Sale pillowcases $25.00  + postage I am putting some things on my blog from time to time. I don't want to open an etsy shop or should I? I didn't start this blog to sell things I just wanted to have fun which I have. I am just packed with things I have purchased and ready to let some things go really lots of things. I am planning a yard sale when the snow stops, but when will that be? another question. It's been snowing 2 1/2 hours and the ground was covered after an hour

This is a bolster pillowcase I just have one . The lace on it is a little frayed

This is the tablecloth I love and i am going to use it for my lace tunic. I seen a Ralph Lauren lace tunic I loved and it was $350.00!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These are my real family pictures cousins and Aunts and Uncles and the last picture I am the little girl on the left

Cousin Donna Sue

This is an old picture that hung in My Great Aunt Ollie's bedroom . I can remember it as a child. She lived in a real old house and had all antiques.   Her and Uncle John's bed was an old iron bed and this picture was in that room. I found it at my Mom's house after she died.

I added this pink depression glass butter dish so I could play Pink Saturday at How Sweet The Sound

Family Pictures

Not my family pictures and I always wondered at auctions and estate sales why somebody in the family doesn't keep their family pictures? I guess the word didn't get passed down the family line of who is who.

I realize I have family pictures that the younger generation in my family has no idea who these people are so at our family reunion this year. yes an old time family reunion. My sisters and I are working on it  and have no idea what we are doing. Any advice would be appreciated. We know that old family reunions everybody came for the day and brought food and drinks and it was a big picnic.

Since some of our family is from more than down the road we not are not sure how to get this accomplished. Guess we will order some food for a crowd and get some coolers and fill with Pepsi and buy some chips??
Who knows now what we will do we have till June 18th to figure it out. We have a shelter rented at a local park
All we know is we want to see our family that we haven't seen and have only heard about, cousins

The above pictures are not my family I picked them up at sales just couldn't stand the idea of somebody throwing them away. I just love the dress the lady has on and that baby who wouldn't love  it .
I also bought a couple old albums

There was only one picture left in this album it is of an priest, it says his name and date
His Holiness Pope Pius X Born June 2nd 1835 Elected Pope Dec4 1903. Click on the picture and look at that old lace he is wearing. I really enjoy looking at old textile and materials
On this page was some old calling cards with names. The last one was  Dora Endsley I knew someone of that name it was the maiden name of this older lady I knew. The other cards are Bertha Brown and Walter Brown. Very good old names

I like this old RECORD book, I have always wanted to write some thought in it might as well it's just sitting looking pretty in the studio. I also have picked up these rosary's at sales they are usually just in boxes of stuff so I have about 5 now. I am not catholic just have these items
Here is my hostess gifts I am making for my guests at a ladies luncheon. I am a hostess and in charge of setting a table for 8 and I started giving my guest little gifts that go along with the theme. This year there is no theme so I am giving button flowers in little old thread spools. I am setting my table with old ironstone platters odds & ends and using an old ironstone pitcher for my water pitcher. Also using my mother of pearl handled silverware. I have 8 brown stafforshire coffee cups so guess they can all match. Nothing else will match but be in the same color tone like the button flowers I have made.

I had fun making them I just set and watched TV and buttoned away.
Here is another picture that goes along with the old childrens pictures I have picked up
This is a special button. It's framed because it was a button off my Grandmother's winter coat.It just had one large button at the top I can barley remember it. After Grandma Baker died and I was looking through her sewing basket I spotted it and remembered the coat it came off of.
If a certain cousin who lives in Florida comes I am going to show her this and see if she remembers the coat that it came off of. I also want to try and find a picture of her in it.

Another old picture hanging on the wall in the studio
A sweet lady who I use to buy lots of things from gave me this picture because she didn't like the old worn out looking frame. I love it just the way it looks. So thank you Mrs Ellison. The pictures name is Little  BlueBelle

They just announced on TV this morning Elizabeth Taylor died she was the most beautiful woman ever. No wonder she was married so many times men couldn't resist her beauty. However they couldn't keep her entertained well enough to get to stay around. Maybe after the honeymoon they din't have things in common I have always wondered about that. What keeps a marriage happy and together? With all their money to travel and play around the world it shouldn't have ever gotten boring.(thinking out loud)
