Hot Tea

I woke up wanting a cup of hot tea really wanted one last night after watching that new show Who Do You Think You Are.  it is  about finding you family from years ago .The show uses old church birth records and the modern day Genealogy .com to trace back your family. The blond girl  Kim Cantrell I think is her name from Sex In The City was on last night and she is nothing like she portrays in the movies. She said on Joy Bahar show she is an actress and did her job well. I love that show of Who Do You Think Your Are.
I am not a Rosie O'Donnell fan  but her story was soooooo sad I cried and cried. BOO Hoo I always cry when they go all the way back and find out what happened to their family. Kim's family was from Liverpool England however they live in Canada now her Mother and two Aunts.

Well here's to you Britain's and the love of hot tea.

I am going to show some of my pretty tea cups anyway I think they are pretty. Love this red and white cup the little sugar I found at TJ Maxx and the tea pot at an estate sale i thought it went with my Mason cups not in the picture.

Then of course my all time favorite my Staffordshire blue calico tea pot and cup

I like this set of brown calico cups. A friend found them listed on Craig's list a set of 8 cups $15. so I had to rescue them. Then I found the saucers at different estate sales. The brown and white tea pot is from TJ Maxx

This set is I only have cups and saucers and luncheon plates they didn't have a tea pot to match I always just use my calico tea pot with the yellow chintz cups

I have one green depression cup and this green sugar shaker minus any sugar LOL. I love this big sugar bowl with the green transfer ware pattern I bought it at an high end antique store and she had it marker 1880 and the mark  Gazelle on the bottom. I can imagine some southern belle serving her fine sugar from it at a tea luncheon out on the lawn under a huge tree. Love it

My sweet little Iris and herringbone cup and saucer

My sweet cabbage rose Sharon cup I borrowed a saucer from the yellow chintz . I don't mind using odds and ends together make it interesting.

Now i have 4 of these little rose pattern cups and saucers that I bought at our resale shop here in town. I never noticed it till someone said it's getting  harder to find pretty tea cups any more so I thought I better grab these up before the are existent (did I spell that correct)sometimes my spell check is sick
Love these odds and ends. I have my loose tea in this candy dish
I love the inside of this flo blue cup and just had to show it off
Another set I have had for years I bought this in St Louis and it was an reproduction of an old set. I just love it and have used it all over my house for something. The large tea pot and the decanter for loose  tea

It's time to make a cup of hot tea I use Whittard Of Chelsea tea My friend in Portland ordered it for me from England. We use to get it at a tea shop in Seattle down on the City Market area. The shop doesn't carry it any longer she said to expensive. So I am loving every sip of this hot tea today, setting here looking out my home office window at the snow on my beautiful tree I hang my curtains in. The little birds are all eating up the sunflower seeds I threw out for them the snow and ice is still on everything. Tomorrow it is to really warm up very fast to 60 !!!!
OK I am pouring us a cup of Summer Pudding tea

  10. Your tea sets are awesome!

I love that show, I wish I would have remembered to watch it Friday. I have only seen 3 or 4 episodes and they were all fabulous, especially last year's Brooke Shields (she has French royalty in her lineage!) and this year's Vanessa Williams.

  11. I really do enjoy Who Do You Think You Are? programmes. We've had about five or six series here in the UK. I have caught only one of the American programmes - Lisa Kudrow's. I have to say that Lisa's story haunted me for about a week afterwards, so if you haven't seen this one yet, I do warn you to be prepared when you watch. xx

  12. Laurie, your tea sets are beautiful. I love to mix things up, so your blue and yellow mixture was especially appealing to me. All of them are wonderful though. I watched that episode of Who Do You Think You Are and enjoyed it. I like the show, but I usually am sad at the end. It kind of makes me wonder if we really should be trying to find lost family. We may be better off to not know who we are!! Thank you for linking to Favorite Things. laurie

  15. That tea looks delish!! My uncle always says the best part of drinking wine or tea in the goblet or cup you drink it from...True True!!

So glad to hear you talk about that TV show. I have really enjoyed it.I also loved the one on PBS called Faces of America hosted by Henry Louis Gates Jr. They featured Meryl Streep and others. Since I am a crazed ancestry.com person it fills another obsession for me.During my search I discovered Mary Polly Boone( Daniel Boone's sister) in my tree and General Curtis LeMay...tooooo much fun!!

So many nice china patterns and lovely shapes. We cannot see this show here but I can imagine how exiting it is. I do a lot of Genealogy research for my book. 26. I sure love your tea sets and cups. Oh my, I am dreamily looking at each photo closely. Sigh! I love tea and I m about to put on my electric tea kettle. I love that little kettle. It boils the water so quickly. You barely have your tea cup ready and and it is ready to pour! I have missed watching You Do You Thing You Are! I loved Rosie's comedy but she got so dark when she came out as gay! Wow! She is very smart but so militant and I was blown away when I saw her heritage on the show. It was so sad. Kim Cantrell is such a beautiful lady and the parts she has played were something lol! But she is a beautiful person and it is nice to see the human side of celebrities. Great post although I am drooling over those brown teacups, are they transferware ? Oh goodness, I am in love with all your tea treasures! Thanks for sharing.
