Blue Plate

Blue is my favorite color and when one of my sisters about 5 years ago showed me this plate / soup bow her priest gave her when he was cleaning out the rectory, I begged her to give it to me. Tried to convince her since  I have so much blue in my kitchen I needed the late. She wouldn't give it to me !
This was 2010

Well Tuesday this week I went up for a visit ( Lee's Summit Mo) she ask me to come up said she was cleaning out storage closets and had stuff for my next  yard sale.
As we we loading my yard sale boxes I was not excited at all with what I had accumulated so far. Lots deer antlers from her husband's past hunting trips, lots electrical cords, Tupperware that was our Mom's , covered casserole dishes with body of ducks for covers all white china  just stuff

!!!!!! Then she said Jan do you want this to sale?? It was the blue plate/ flat soup bowl  I had wanted so bad !!!!!!! since 2010 I grabbed it fast and yelled not to sell I want it to keep

It is a large plate soup bowl i10 1.2 inches across

I wish I knew the pattern name,do any of you know the pattern name? To me it's a late 1800 pattern
It's the wavy blue edges that make it so elegant to me. I took these pictures about 6 am this morning and when it's dark outside my little Sony camera does not take good pictures even with the flash as you can see.
On the back it has name Davenport and a anchor engraved in the plate also Davenport in cobalt blue.
The colors are still so vibrant

I just love it so far it's sitting on my old white chippy white dish cabinet
AND THEN she gave me her collection of old vintage and antique buttons !!!!!!!!!!!!

There is mother of pearl lots metal mirror back buttons and china calico buttons
there is some glass buttons. Lots military uniform buttons.I was more thrilled with the buttons than the  plate /soup bowl
I haven't taken the time to go through all of them and separate them into my containers of buttons however plan on playing with them this weekend  i'll take pictures and share later.

Estate Sale Shopping

Oh I went to an estate sale today just to price this chair that I really liked. I  have missed other chairs like it at sales because they were up in the $300 range. I got to the sale an hour before to be the first in line and I was. I took a book to read while waiting and that really passed the time for me. I was expecting to be disappointed in the chairs price so was braced for a big sticker $$$
Here is the chair I wanted a windsor comb back style . I was thrilled with the price of $40

It sets proudly in my cluttered  kitchen till I can take a couple chairs downstairs

Then I bought this sweet little piano music box. I thought I had broke myself from buying stuff like this just because it's cute and adorable and because I liked, but guess I'm not broke yet.

The little cherubs angels were just to cute to pass up, tell me i'm right? LOL  The tune is Beethoven's Fur Elise
My 11 year old grandson played this at one of his piano recitals once

When the music's playing all the little heavenly cherubs move about playing their instruments. The little cherub on the piano goes up and down the keys
Hope you are having  a nice Saturday also, I even got a short nap today

Pink Flamingo

As I was taking pictures for this post I couldn't help but play with my pink divided plates I got a few years ago for a very good price. My daughter has had them since I got them because she fell in love with them and she was collecting pink and turquoise dishes, Pyrex etc and they looked good with her collections. Now she is on to another collection so I get my plates back Yes she's  got her mother's bug of collecting. LOL I got it from my Mom.
Well anyway they came home to Mom's so here they are

They have a picture of a flamingo on the back and name Flamingo
They are a heavy divided plate i'm sure made for a diner back in the 1930
40's? There is a blog I read who has this set of  Rose dishes and in my senior moment I can't think of the name of her blog to mention her. Rose Chintz Cottage ( just found it )
Then of course these adorable dishes with the roses on them look so good with the plates
I have always liked this set and just picked this cup and saucer up recently out shopping at new shops got it for $3
Even my old buttons look good laying on the plates. I had my buttons out to take pictures for Button Floozies blog
So many ways to use them if my plate rack on the wall wasn't full I would put them up there
I am always looking for these paisley dishes and only have a few dessert pates

Thanks for looking at my stuff

What is It?

Is this a teacup or a man's shaving cup? I just loved the pink roses on it and bought it for it's beauty, I also thought maybe the little shelf inside the cup is for tea bags but then again back turn of century didn't they use loose tea? think so. I know vintage shaving items are very collectable now with some men however I don't think they would have purchased this pretty cup? I work with a young man  who collects vintage shaving items. I am really thinking it's a victorian shaving mug for a man who would have used frilly cups LOL

It didn't have any chips or cracks in or about it you can see where the gold edge has rubbed off over time
The bottom is unusual to me

It is such a pretty little thing even if you all tell me the truth

Hope you all had a nice Valentine's Day we got snow and sleet this morning. I feed my birds a lot of extra seed and filled their heated bird bath, I'm watching the birds play in the water now  they just love their heated water

Valentine Charm Box

You know what I just said about I have to make my own fun at my age LOL Well I was in my messy studio and run across a drawer with altoid tins in it and I love to decorate these so thought I would make a couple. I have one friend who appreciates my homemade art so I made her one also and mailed it to her for a surprise since we don't get together anymore

I should mention my charm box is sitting on top of a pair of little red velvet girls vintage shoes

I really enjoy doing this sort of thing I don't measure and make everything perfect I just cut and glue and have fun creating

These are sweet little buttons off of a baby dress  that I adored the girls outfits with and rhinestones of course, pretty silver glitter braid for the edges
I used some Valentine card papier  I got at a wonderful shop here once before it closed down, I hoard pretty papers. I tried to make a charming hat for one of the ladies,I think they were circus performers
Her Bottom with the gold button feet little glitter

A few little treasures added to my box

A couple little hearts, crown charm, few old safety pins, rhinestone bracelet ,fleur de lis,and some do dads, fried cake button, topaz  pendant, bar pin, heart shaped button . Made with Love

Valentine Tree

I put together a Valentine tree, just left my silver tree from Christmas up in my home office and added some Valentine cards and treasures to the tree for fun. When your my age you have to make your own fun. LOL This was fun

I started off putting a pink wreath on top of the tree then the little mouse with the key to my heart in his hand. I added some red tulle for garland around the tree, even added some plastic pink carnations
I know this is a pink bunny but she s so pretty and her colors is perfect for my tree decor, below is a tag I made once
These are old valentine cards I found in a auction box, and boy do I miss auctions ,they have mostly gone to online auctions which is not fun at all I like to look through boxes of old old goodies

This dress is a card which opens up and I have mailed to friends through the years I  still have a few left

Looking across the room as the tree stands proudly all cluttered up LOL
I have grand kids pictures across the room showing up in my round  mirror behind the tree, my chandelier is really reflecting also in the mirror also
This picture you can't hardly make out the red hearts on the tree because of the red tissue skirt I have under the tree.

I was looking for an old post a few years ago of some cute Valentine things,if I find it i'll post them also. I have kept several heart boxes from past valentines and need to fill them with chocolates to give out this year to the grandsons, my favorite was given to my oldest daughter,it was a scrabble heart game.

What will we show next? after Valentine's Day LOL

New Tea Cup

Last Saturday when I was out junking around I found the prettiest tea cup and saucer I have found at a real junky thrift store and it was 1/2 price day !! I got this set for $1 really I did.

I can't believe this was not chipped or cracked in any way if you would have seen where I found it.The cup was in one shelf and saucer on another shelf But it's home now in my kitchen LOL

It has a poppy bud inside the cup painted oh so pretty, these pictures don't show how pretty it really is since I have a very inexpensive camera, Even the gold trim is all there
It is a sweet dainty cup with a very fancy little handle, the bottom of the cup has like a square with 4 little feet which it sets on.  Very lightweight marked Germany on the bottom, I like German china

Is there any better feeling than out junking or thrift shopping and finding a treasure? NO
I alway can't wait to get home and wash it up get a picture then put it in it's new place among other treasures in my kitchen and I'm getting real clutter up again LOL
