Blue Plate

Blue is my favorite color and when one of my sisters about 5 years ago showed me this plate / soup bow her priest gave her when he was cleaning out the rectory, I begged her to give it to me. Tried to convince her since  I have so much blue in my kitchen I needed the late. She wouldn't give it to me !
This was 2010

Well Tuesday this week I went up for a visit ( Lee's Summit Mo) she ask me to come up said she was cleaning out storage closets and had stuff for my next  yard sale.
As we we loading my yard sale boxes I was not excited at all with what I had accumulated so far. Lots deer antlers from her husband's past hunting trips, lots electrical cords, Tupperware that was our Mom's , covered casserole dishes with body of ducks for covers all white china  just stuff

!!!!!! Then she said Jan do you want this to sale?? It was the blue plate/ flat soup bowl  I had wanted so bad !!!!!!! since 2010 I grabbed it fast and yelled not to sell I want it to keep

It is a large plate soup bowl i10 1.2 inches across

I wish I knew the pattern name,do any of you know the pattern name? To me it's a late 1800 pattern
It's the wavy blue edges that make it so elegant to me. I took these pictures about 6 am this morning and when it's dark outside my little Sony camera does not take good pictures even with the flash as you can see.
On the back it has name Davenport and a anchor engraved in the plate also Davenport in cobalt blue.
The colors are still so vibrant

I just love it so far it's sitting on my old white chippy white dish cabinet
AND THEN she gave me her collection of old vintage and antique buttons !!!!!!!!!!!!

There is mother of pearl lots metal mirror back buttons and china calico buttons
there is some glass buttons. Lots military uniform buttons.I was more thrilled with the buttons than the  plate /soup bowl
I haven't taken the time to go through all of them and separate them into my containers of buttons however plan on playing with them this weekend  i'll take pictures and share later.

  3. Beautiful plate. Unusual striped lines. Bet you were tickled with the buttons. I am selling buttons and dish ware in my booth - getting rid of many things. They are buying the buttons, but the dish ware is sitting. Maybe if I put free on them.

  16. Janice, that bowl is gorgeous. Both you and I love blue as well as religious items. And, the buttons!!! What a haul. Hope she calls you soon and is cleaning more. I have a friend in the bootheal of MO who says she will send me her buttons when she can get out to the shed to get them. She is getting forgetful, so I will have to remind her as soon as it gets warmer. Yes, please share more buttons when you go through them. Love that soup plate so much, too. Blessings, Nancy Carr

  17. Janice,
Who made your soup bowl? Sometimes every piece isn't marked with a makers name.
