Tribute To Sissy 4-10-2011

I don't know how to start or end this post other than my beloved best friend passed away of cancer April 10th and it was so sad for both of us. She didn't want to leave me ( I could tell) and I didn't want to loose her.

I got Sissy in 1999 at our animal shelter(humane society ). I had been wanting a pug and thought I would look around the animal shelter to see if a little pug was there needing to be adopted , well there wasn't any and I ask if I could put my name down as wanting to adopt a pug and if one came please call me. Now you can only get one through pug rescue

Any way about a couple  months after I had forgotten about the humane society they called and said they had a female pug would I still be interested. I said yes.  I had Sissy 12 years she was about a year old when I got her

This is Sissy with wild eyes LOL
I went to pinik  photo and took the bright eyes off this picture and it came back darn it . I know I must have better pictures of her somewhere for her obituary

I bought this picture of a pug at an interior design store and my  visitors thought it was Sissy

I know people who are not dog people will think this is boring and say OMG look what she has on her blog but this was just like any other death in the family to me. I am sure all you dogs lovers will agree

  1. There is nothing boring about your post. I still think about my childhood dog. Her name was Missy! What a loving tribute. Sissy would be proud.

  3. It is losing a beloved family member. Do talk about Sissy, do have pictures to look at, do remember all the neat things she did. A tribute to Sissy is a good thing.

  4. So sorry to hear about Sissy. I lost my beloved Kitty to cancer almost a year and a half ago and I still miss her terribly. They are family members for sure and leave a huge empty void behind them.

Keep your memories of Sissy close and don't worry what anybody thinks.........

  5. I too had a rescue pug and I miss her everyday. I am thinking of you and Sissy and I do hope, when the time is right , you get another dog. I could not face a rescue pug , it would just be too hard on me but I did get another rescue dog and I am so glad I did.
Don't worry what people think! Loved seeing your photos :)

  6. I am writing this as my beloved bichon sits on my lap. I am an animal lover too and I totally understand what you're going through. When you lose a pet, you grieve just as much as if it was any member of the family. But think about the fact that you gave her a fantastic home and she had twelve great years of love.

  8. Dear Sissy's Mom. I understand more than any one as I lost my little Beagle to cancer a year ago,she was so sick and I took her several times to the Vet. She would rally and then back she went. The final day she walked herself into the vet. office, but never came back. It was the hardest thing I have ever done and one of the most to get over. My love and thoughts are with you and "This Too will Pass". I have a Sissy now.Richard at My Old Historic House

  9. It is so difficult to lose a pet - they take a piece of your heart with them. I still tear up when I think of my sweet Duncan and it's been three years since he left us. I am so very sorry for your loss, and please do not worry about what non dog people will think, Sissy was a part of your life and you loved her - that's all that matters.

  10. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your beloved pet. Our dogs become part of our family and it is very hard to lose a family member. We lost our beloved Daisy at 15 years old from a brain tumor. I didn't get another dog for a year. Now we have the most beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she is a year old. Don't worry about what others think.
